About me
My name is Pedro Cunha. Nice to meet you 🙂

To keep it short, I am passionate about Astronomy and Machine Learning (🌌+🦾). However, that alone do not define me. To keep myself active I play 🏀, enjoy 🏃 and in the 🌊 I like to 🏊‍♂️ and recently started to 🏄. As a hobby I play drums and study Prestidigitation.

I am motivated by new challenges and I like to design new solutions to problems using my multidisciplinary background and creativity.
My Research

1

Obscured Supermassive Black Holes
Obscured supermassive black holes are hidden from view due to surrounding material such as dust and gas. By studying these sources, we hope to gain a better understanding of their properties and the role they play in the evolution of galaxies.

2

Machine Learning
Machine learning techniques can be applied to analyse large datasets of astronomical observations in order to better understand the properties and behavior of obscured supermassive black holes.

3

SED fitting
SED fitting is a powerful tool used to study the spectral energy distribution of galaxies and AGN, allowing for the determination of their physical properties such as their star formation rates, stellar masses, and black hole masses.

4

Observational data
Observational data is essential in helping us study obscured supermassive black holes since they provide us with information about the properties and characteristics of these objects. Through the use of observational data, we can refine our understanding of these objects and gain more insight into their behavior and evolution.
Applying Machine Learning Techniques
Data Analysis
Machine learning algorithms can identify patterns in vast astronomical datasets.
Classification
Classifying AGN into different types based on their spectral and morphological properties.
Regression
Predicting the evolution and behaviour of AGN over time.
